Fans of Washington area singer..songwriter Tom Blood celebrated the =
release=20
of his Debut Album =93Monkey Shines=94 at O=92Brien=92s Pit Barbecue in =
Rockville MD and=20
recently added his music to Bill Mulroneys SWB Bandits "Resilient =
Heart".=20
http://secondwindbandits.com=20

The high-energy performances, stage presence, strong vocals and =
dynamic=20
songwriting capabilities create wide ranges of musical expressions. Tom =
has=20
performed around the Washington D.C. area for over 20 years. Versatility =
allows=20
him to play in every setting from nightclubs, restaurants, to festivals, =
to a=20
quiet coffee house atmosphere.

=93Blood himself proves a singer of considerable range and emotion=94 =
Lou King,=20
The Journal Newspaper (NVA Examiner)

Whether Country, Folk, Blues, Pop or Rock in Roll he seems at home =
with his=20
style and passionately gives a full set of emotion. With a feeling of =
urgency=20
Blood sings about love, stalkers, drunkenness and co-dependency. He =
sings about=20
situations of family ruin and about a man who ends up institutionalized =
because=20
he has killed his parents.

Tom Blood is just as comfortable fronting his duo or band or as just =
a=20
sideman. These previously include groups, Jack Bond, John Harbison, Back =
to=20
Back, Lou Phrang and Duck Soup. Blood sings simple songs like =
=93Something to do=94=20
(Monkey Shines), which is dominated by the Piano of Bruce Harrison =
(formerly=20
Ricky Van Shelton) to more sophisticated song called =93Fooling Your Own =
Heart=94.=20
This features Tim Biery of MD on drums, to a Caribbean..African feeling =
of=20
=93Walking on The River=94 (Paul Bell DC NightHawks and deceased DC =
bassist Wade=20
Matthews). Features, DC/CA Cantor and childrens music expert Mike Stein =
Fiddle=20
on "Weary takes me by the Hand". This is about a drummer who was put =
away for=20
killing his parents. And more recently the power folk tune "Girl from =
long Ago"=20
'a standout tune' (Music Monthly).

Among the core of engineers for Monkey Shines were Bill Wolf, Tim =
Biery, Doug=20
Derry Berry, Matt Holsen, Paul Bell and John Donavan. John Alagia (John=20
Mayer/Dave Matthews) was involved at the start of the recording, =
providing=20
singing help and breaks playing basketball. And recently Blake Altheon =
(Human=20
Factor Productions)added his impressive digital production techniques to =
the few=20
songs on Resilient Heart

Blood performs all over the DC Metro area from Hagerstown to Richmond =
and all=20
the way to Annapolis. The Late As Usual Duo format usually includes Bill =

Enderlin (Bass) who has played with locals Holly (Ted) Garber, Brass =
Alley and=20
John Harbison. Also in late 2003 a band was formed called =93Late as =
Usual=94,=20
Bethesda MD. Locals have included Mike Lessin of the Kathy Ponton King =
band and=20
includes drummer Jay Dennis. The band performs at Cox Farm, Muldoons, =
The=20
Brogue, Clydes and the Austin Grill around the DC area.

Some other very talented artists included on Monkey Shines were- John =

Donavan, Peter Fraize, Andy Hamburger, Tommy Lepson, Mike Auldridge, =
Robbie=20
MacGruder, Dave Elliot and a host of others all lend a hand.=20

According to Lou King about Monkey Shines- Blood=92s music isn't=92t =
particularly=20
unique when compared with a lot of other grownup rock, although it is =
spirited=20
and rarely plodding. Stylistically, there=92s a little of just about =
everything,=20
from the =9170s blues-rock of Change of Heart, to the country feel of =
=93Something=20
to do=94 to the Caribbean-tinted =93Walking on the River=94.

With so many stellar names lending their talents to this project, =
there=92re=20
bound to a few shining individual performances. Paul Bell=92s nimble =
guitar on the=20
Traffic-eqsue =93Fooling your Own Heart=94 and Mike Stein=92s fiddle and =
accordion by=20
Jennifer Cutting on the lilting =93Weary=94 (Take me by the Hand) are =
just a few of=20
the highlights.

Blood himself proves a more than capable singer of considerable range =
and=20
emotion. His surprisingly fleet acoustic solos on =93Way Station Baby=94 =
and =93Love=20
the Way You Look Tonight=94 also distinguish him from legions of =
one-dimensional=20
coffeehouse strummers.

=93Monkey Shines" really =93Shines!" (Kevin Jones, WOBC FM Oberlin, =
OH )

Monkey Shines grabs you from the first intro and never let's you go. =
This CD=20
with its fine material and "Corp of Engineers" stand out among local =
peers and=20
beg for an encore production! With a voice of undeniable warmth combined =
with=20
fine songwriting and passionate delivery makes Blood one of Washington's =
more=20
versatile singer songwriter talents.
